The European Summer School for Whole Animal Pharmacology (ESSWAP) held its fourth course on behavioural pharmacology June 15-20, 2008.
Host facilities were kindly provided by Schering Plough Organon in Oss, the Netherlands and by the Division of Laboratory Animal Sciences of the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands.
These ESSWAP courses are set up specifically for bio-scientists who want to acquire the knowledge and necessary skills for the good conduct of behavioural experiments, to expand their understanding of behavioural pharmacology as the ultimate level of integrative phenotyping, and to soundly extrapolate their data to clinical pharmacology.

The 2008 edition of the course was highly appreciated by the participants, who originated from the USA, Malaysia, China, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany (3), and the Netherlands (3). Their evaluation in pdf format can be downloaded here.
The on-line documentation of the 2008 programme can be accessed by clicking here. Moreover, a DVD will become available later this year, that provides the complete 2008 course documentation, including all slide presentations and video material of animal behaviour and behavioural pharmacology.
The programme of the 2009 course on behavioural pharmacology to be held
also in the Netherlands June 14-19, 2009, will be essentially similar to the 2008 programme. Those willing to register are kindly requested to fill out the on-line questionnaire.
The Summer School director will gladly provide any additional information at
director@esswap.org or by telephone to +31 26 4432 329 (office) and +31 6 2318 7672 (mobile phone).
